A newborn and a cardboard box: what do they have in common?

Hi, everyone! 🙂

I have read this news on the internet and it has brought me some reflection. And I will explain why.

Nowadays we can see some different realities involving families when it comes to having a baby: on the one hand, high priced baby stores carrying expensive items and clothing. On the other hand, you have mothers who barely can afford to cloth and feed their newborns. In the middle you have people working long hours just to provide the essentials.

In Finland they do things different.

Each and every mother who is expecting a child there will receive a box which contains the basic items to raise a little baby. Watch the video below.

What can be more awesome? It’s provided by the government for free!!! ❤

Not just because of this, Finland remains the forward thinking country especially when it comes to education and standard of living. A report came out not long ago saying that mothers in Finland are actually the happiest in the world. Knowing that you are taken care of with the essentials and can focus all your attention on giving your newborn the much love it needs, certainly has made a huge impact for Finnish moms.

More excitement: the cardboard boxes are having their first stop in Canada! It DOES need to be spread out! 😉 (updated on Mar 7th, 2016)

Have you ever read anything like this? What’s your view on it? Make a comment! 🙂

Hi Mirelle, I have never read or heard about it. I think this support it’s so important, especially when the woman becomes mother at first time. This kind of policy helps to decrease hunger, death in a childhood. Futhermore, Children can grow in the same state of equlity.

Hey, dear! Thanks for stopping by!
As you have brilliantly mentioned, this is the kind of policy that can save a nation due to the fact that it offers safety…
Easy, cheap and full of warmth. What is our government waiting for?

Hi teacher!! I have already read this news in Portuguese and it was very nice to read it in English too. Nowadays we see how people give importance to shopping and having things. This behavior is impacting the new generation, people are just happy if they buy.
What Finland did is very special and beatiful, because all of the babies will grow with the same oportunity, I mean, they will not suffer because they don’t have enought food or clothes and the mothers either :’)

      Thanks for your comment!
Actually, Finland gives us a message because consumerism is not acceptable, in my point of view. The Finnish government has been providing the families with what is ESSENTIAL: we are equal. All human beings are equal. 😉
      I appreciate your writing.
      See you soon!
